Steven Goldman:

Does this mean all 134,000 members recently enrolled in Expansion coverage will have to return to their application to choose a PCP/PCMH? And.....all Expansion coverage members who have begun Specialist provider treatment will have to make an extra visit to their new PCP to get referral-to-specialist paperwork? That's a burden on providers and patients.

By what date do all 134,000 Expansion Adults need to have chosen a PCP/PCMH? If they do not choose one....will OHCA "assign" one?

If these members use Urgent Care centers in the SoonerCare network, but have not chosen a PCP....will the Urgent Care visit be covered?  Because memebers in the SoonerCare income range have jobs that generally do not offer "paid time off" for medical visits, the access to Urgent Care is crucial.

OHCA Response:

Thank you for your comments/questions. The OHCA takes every comment under advisement.

Adult Expansion members may start selecting their Choice provider using their MySoonerCare.org accounts and using the Change or Select my PCP link as of October 1. OHCA will provide outreach support for this using social media and member letters. American Indian/Alaska Native members may also select an Indian Health Service, Tribal or Urban clinic as their provider. The enrollment is ongoing and not time limited. Please note, member care treatment plans will not be interrupted based on the move to Choice.

Furthermore, there will be no auto assignment of a PCP/PCMH for new members. However, members previously aligned to a Choice Provider will be auto assigned back to that provider. We will also look to keep family members aligned with the same Choice providers.

Finally, urgent care visits are a covered benefit.
