Engineer Development Program
The Department continuously recruits and develops civil engineers in order to maintain an experienced team of engineering professionals tasked with improving and maintaining the state’s transportation infrastructure.
Our Engineer Development Program (EDP) is structured to provide engineer interns with technical training, practical experience, and exposure to challenging opportunities over the course of approximately one year. The strength of the EDP is our one-of-a-kind engineer rotation program; a program in which engineer interns spend their first year rotating through several of the Department’s design divisions and field districts, gaining exposure to their function and establishing relationships with the personnel responsible for the division’s/district’s success. At the conclusion of the rotation interns are assigned to a design division or field district of their choice. From there, interns become engaged in their team’s mission while gaining the experience necessary in order to qualify to obtain professional engineering licensure.
