Summer Engineer Intern Program
The purpose of ODOT’s Summer Engineer Intern Program is to expose undergraduate engineering students to the industry of highway construction from the perspective of state government. Summer interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience by participating in highway construction and maintenance activities such as:
- Assisting a survey crew
- Assisting with traffic hazard surveys
- Documenting daily construction activities and project status
- Maintaining highway rights-of-way
- Repairing highway safety appurtenances
- Repairing roads and bridges
- Testing and inspecting construction materials
- Verifying that project elements are built according to plans and specifications
- And much more.
Returning Summer Interns will further their experience by participating in the above activities at a more in-depth level, as well as possibly being assigned to their own project.
