Notice of Availability of an Environmental Assessment for the Proposed Improvement of SH-82 North of Tahlequah. All interested persons are hereby given notice the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FWHA), is proposing improvements to State Highway 82 north of Tahlequah in Cherokee County, Oklahoma.
Purpose:
The purpose of this public hearing is to provide an overview of the project, review alternatives, discuss agency and public involvement, discuss preliminary social, economic and environmental impacts, and provide opportunities to comment. A brief presentation will be made followed by a comment period. Comment forms will be provided and a court reporter will be available to record verbal comments. Representatives from ODOT will be available to answer questions regarding the findings of the EA, as well as relocation assistance, right-of-way acquisition, and construction schedule after the presentation.
Description:
The proposed project will reconstruct and widen SH-82 from the end of the Bertha Parker Bypass (west of Cedar Avenue) to Gideon, a distance of approximately 8 miles. The purpose of the project is to improve safety, reduce congestion, and complete the multi-lane loop around Tahlequah. A Public Hearing has been scheduled to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed action and alternatives and the findings of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for this undertaking.
