Description
The current 2-lane roadway requires improvements to enhance safety. In 2022, an Individual Categorical Exclusion (ICE) for SH-82 was completed for the proposed widening and resurfacing improvements for an approximate 6-mile portion of SH-82. ODOT is currently in the design process for improvements to SH-82 from 2.57 miles south of the SH-82/SH-82C junction, north 6 miles to the Mayes County line which goes through Peggs, Oklahoma.
The project is needed to make improvements to the SH-82 roadway and enhance safety. There are areas where the vertical and horizontal roadway alignment limits sight distance. ODOT proposes to widen and resurface SH-82 beginning 2.57 miles south of SH-82C junction and extending 6 miles north through the town of Peggs to the Mayes County Line. The Project proposes to widen the existing roadway to 12 feet (ft) with 4 ft to 6 ft wide shoulders and resurface the existing lanes. Minimal vertical and horizontal curve corrections and slight realignments to adjust section line road intersections are anticipated.
