Oklahoma Department of Mines

The Oklahoma Department of Mines (ODM) serves as the regulatory authority empowered to execute, enforce, and implement provisions of state and federally mandated programs in the areas of health, safety, mining, and land reclamation practices associated with surface and sub-surface mining in Oklahoma. ODM is required to:

  • Safeguard human health and safety.
  • Issue mining permits for all mining operations and to inspect regularly all mining operations for reclamation.
  • Minimize environmental impact to land, air, and water quality through viable regulatory and enforcement programs.
