Commissioners of the Land Office

The Commissioners of the Land Office (CLO) serves as the administrator of the state school lands and manages assets for the benefit of the state’s public education beneficiaries as set forth in Section 7 of the Oklahoma Enabling Act and the Oklahoma Constitution (Article 11 § 1 and 2). CLO owns and manages approximately 740,000 surface acres and 1.1 million mineral acres. CLO assures the preservation and appreciation of the trust estate and maximum return from the use of state school lands to support education funding. The agency manages nine state trusts, with the largest being the Common School Trust (K-12) that currently funds 509 common school districts. Six trusts benefit 13 higher education institutions. In FY 2022, the agency distributed $91,532,085 to the Common School Trust and $30,942,805 to Higher Education Trusts for a total distribution of $122,474,890. The agency also manages two small trusts for the benefit of public buildings.
