Date: January 12th, 2016 Time: 6:00 PM |
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is proposing to improve a segment of SH-51A between County Roads EW-71 and EW-74 located approximately 7.5 miles south of the community of Southard in Blaine County. The purpose of the project is to improve the overall safety of SH-51A by addressing sight distances, correcting vertical and horizontal curves, and modifying county road tie-ins. Four alternatives were presented at a public meeting held on July 28, 2015. After considering right-of-way impacts, construction costs, utility concerns, environmental constraints, and public input, ODOT selected a preferred alternative. As part of our efforts to keep the public informed and involved in the decision-making process, ODOT has scheduled a second public meeting.
The purpose of this meeting is to present the preferred alternative and to solicit public and agency input to aid in identifying the need to move forward with detailed environmental studies, engineering design, right-of-way acquisition, and roadway construction.
