The purpose of the Public Hearing is to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the proposed action and the findings of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for this undertaking. The first hour of the meeting will be an open house format, with exhibits available to view. A brief presentation will be made at 6:00 p.m. followed by an opportunity for public comment. Individuals should be signed up to speak by 6:15 p.m. and will have a maximum of three minutes to speak. Following the presentation and public comment period, the open house format will continue until 7:30 p.m. Comment forms will be provided, and a court reporter will be available to record verbal comments.
The EA Document describes the project’s purpose and need, the range of alternatives considered including the selected alternative, the social, economic and environmental effects of the alternatives, the agency coordination and public involvement activities conducted as part of the Assessment. Copies of the EA are available for public inspection at the following locations and at the ODOT website, www.odot.org/US70Realignment, from Wednesday April 27, 2022, to Friday, May 27, 2022.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is proposing to realign US-70 near Madill, Marshall County, Oklahoma. The proposed project consists of constructing US-70 on a new location east of Madill. The western terminus for the project begins approximately 0.5 mile west of US-177 at Mockingbird Lane and extends east approximately 1.3 miles crossing US-177 and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad, then southwest on the new alignment to SH-199, then due south for approximately 2.8 miles connecting back to US- 70 near Archard Road. The purpose of the project is to improve safety, efficiency and travel times along the US-70 corridor.
