Tips for your new EBT Card

The EBT Card is your permanent card. Do not throw away.

Your EBT Card is designed for multiple uses. Money will reload onto your card each time it is available. Please keep the card even if your benefits or services expire. You will use the same card again if you receive benefits or services in the future.

Protect your EBT benefits

To protect your benefits, you must activate all available safety features of your EBT account.

The ConnectEBT app is available for Apple and Android devices. You can use the app to:

  • Lock your card when you aren’t using it (Benefits will be loaded even if it’s locked!)
  • Change your PIN (Remember to use a hard-to-guess PIN!)
  • Check your benefit balances and purchase history to ensure there are no purchases you don’t recognize.
  • Report your EBT card lost or stolen and request a new card, if needed.

A hard-to-guess PIN is the first step in making it tough for scammers to access your money. Keep your PIN secret, and never share it with anyone outside your household. Avoid using a year or other easy-to-guess PINs such as 1234, 1995, and 1122.

Change your PIN frequently, including right before your benefits load, for an added layer of security.

The Lock Card feature keeps your card safe from unauthorized transactions while allowing you to use it when needed. Watch this video to learn how to use the lock/unlock feature for all transactions. Benefits will still load to your card while it is locked.

Oklahoma Human Services is required by Federal SNAP rules to allow out-of-state purchases. Therefore, the agency cannot universally block purchases made in other states. However, you can make that choice as a SNAP client.

  • Cloning:  Criminals may steal your information by skimming or phishing and then use that information to copy your card number and PIN to make a fake card to use for purchases.
  • Skimming: Criminals might put devices on store machines to steal your card and PIN info.
  • Phishing: You could get calls, texts, or emails asking for your card, PIN, or personal info. No one calling you from Oklahoma Human Services will ask you for this information.

Additional Information

To easily manage your card, use the Connect EBT Client Portal or mobile app for Apple or Android devices.

The Connect EBT Client Portal is a website that can be accessed by your internet browser. The Connect EBT mobile app is available for both Apple and Android devices.

The portal and app require you to create a profile to register your EBT Card. A profile requires your:

  • Social Security Number
  • Date of Birth
  • 16 Digit EBT Card Number

When you sign up on the portal, you can:

  • Create PINs for your benefits.
  • Ask for a new EBT Card if yours is lost or stolen.
  • Check your benefit balances.
  • See your benefit transactions.

Every benefit or service you get requires a PIN (Personal Identification Number) for you to access. If you receive more than one benefit, like SNAP and Child Care, you must assign a PIN to each of them. You may assign the same PIN to each of your services.

Soft PINs are four-digit numbers that are easy to figure out, like 1-2-3-4, 1-1-1-1, 1-0-1-0, and 4-3-2-1. Although they are easy to remember, they are also easy to steal. Set a PIN that only you will know.
