You must be enrolled in a state-certified Driver Education course

Plan Ahead

If you are at least 15 years old but have not yet obtained your Learner Permit, you may only drive at this stage while receiving instruction from, and accompanied by, a certified driver education instructor. Parents do not qualify as a certified driver education instructor during the pre-permit stage. After enrolling in a Service Oklahoma approved Driver Education course, including parent-taught, passing the Oklahoma written test, and receiving your Learner Permit, you may drive under learner Permit restrictions, which includes driving with a licensed driver over the age of 21.
