Online Private Aircraft Registrations and Renewals Now Provided by Service Oklahoma
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 1, 2024
OKLAHOMA CITY – Service Oklahoma is excited to announce the expansion of its service offerings to include private aircraft registrations and renewals. Aircraft services have transferred to Service Oklahoma from the Oklahoma Tax Commission in accordance with SB773 (2023) starting today.
Private aircraft owners in Oklahoma will now be able to access aircraft registrations and renewals online through Service Oklahoma. This change is designed to streamline processes and improve the overall experience for private aircraft owners throughout the state.
"Starting July 1, private aircraft registrations can conveniently be completed online at okcars.service.ok.gov,” said Diedra O’Neil, Chief Strategy & Operating Officer of Service Oklahoma. “Service Oklahoma is excited to extend our online capabilities to the aviation community, ensuring they receive the same high level of service and convenience that all our motor vehicle customers have come to expect in Oklahoma.”
Service Oklahoma is dedicated to delivering best-in-class customer service and the integration of private aircraft online registrations is a testament to this commitment.
Key services that will now be offered online include:
- Aircraft Registration: Providing streamlined processes for the registration of new and used private aircraft.
- Annual Aircraft Renewals: Facilitating easy renewals and updates to aircraft registration and title information.
To begin the private aircraft registration process, private aircraft owners must first register the aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration. Once registered with the FAA, Service Oklahoma has made the state registration process easy.
First-time private aircraft owners can register their aircraft in-person at the Service Oklahoma Headquarters located at 6015 N Classen Blvd, Building 4 in Oklahoma City. To register and renew a private aircraft, owners have the option of completing the renewal process online at service.ok.gov/aircraft.
Which private aircraft require registrations?
- Single and multi-engines
- Turbo Jets and props
- Rotary wings
- Home-built aircraft
- Hot air balloons
- Antique aircraft
All private aircraft registrations in Oklahoma expire every year on December 31. In 2023, there were 3,574 aircraft registered in Oklahoma slightly down from 3,591 in 2022. If a registration is not renewed by February 1, private aircraft registrations will accrue a $0.20 per day penalty until March 1.
“This new addition to Service Oklahoma’s portfolio of services shows a further commitment to Service Oklahoma’s mission of providing comprehensive, convenient and efficient service solutions to the residents of Oklahoma,” said O’Neil.
