Service Oklahoma Celebrates a Year of Achievements in 2024
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 16, 2025
OKLAHOMA CITY – Service Oklahoma is proud to reflect on a remarkable 2024, marked by transformative initiatives, service achievements and recognition.
One of the most significant milestones this year was the implementation of the Mason Treat Act, which introduced a streamlined pre-registration process for all vehicle purchases in Oklahoma. This transformation on the vehicle registration process was created to improve road safety for drivers and law enforcement officers by limiting the amount of time temporary paper tags are on vehicles. Within the first four months, 161,595 vehicles have been pre-registered, enhancing road safety.
Service Oklahoma achieved other milestones in service for 2024 across the state:
- 5,174,298 total vehicle registrations processed
- 244,451 speciality license plates issued and renewed including 66,841 personalized plates issued and renewed
- Top personalized plates for 2024 were In God We Trust, Pioneers of the Prairie and OKC Thunder
- 74% reduction in wait times at Service Oklahoma locations in 2024
- 4.77/5 average Google review rating with 3,096 five-star reviews
- 6.18/7 average phone line customer satisfaction score
- 6.02/7 average online services customer satisfaction score
- 2.1 minute average phone line wait time
Also, this year, Service Oklahoma received two awards for excellence. The first is the regional 2024 AAMVA Excellence in Government Partnership Award for establishing the Licensed Operator Advisory Committee. This collaborative effort has been instrumental in bridging the gap between licensed operators and state agencies, fostering innovation, and enhancing public service. Service Oklahoma was also recognized for the Digital Disability Placard Program, which simplified a 10-step process into just three steps, reducing wait times by 80% and making it easier for Oklahomans to access disability placards.
“2024 was a year of incredible progress and teamwork,” said Diedra O’Neil, Chief Strategy & Operating Officer of Service Oklahoma. “From the launch of Drive Test Centers and Seasonal Saturdays to the Sweet Sixteen Guarantee, we’re delivering innovative, accessible solutions that enhance convenience, improve services and support communities across Oklahoma.”
Looking to 2025, Service Oklahoma remains focused on preparing Oklahomans for the May 7, 2025, REAL ID deadline. Starting that day, federal law will require a REAL ID-compliant credential, passport or other federally approved identification to board domestic flights or access certain federal facilities.
To ensure a smooth transition and avoid last-minute delays, Service Oklahoma encourages all citizens to apply for their REAL ID now. With more than 270 Service Oklahoma and licensed operator locations statewide, applying for a REAL ID has never been more convenient.
To make the process even easier, Oklahomans can use the REAL ID Checklist at service.ok.gov/REALID to confirm the required documents and prepare for the visit. The personalized checklist helps applicants prepare by identifying the documents needed, such as proof of identity, Social Security number and two proofs of Oklahoma residency.
“May 7 is closer than we think,” said Jay Doyle, Chief Executive Officer of Service Oklahoma. “We urge Oklahomans to act early to avoid potential rushes as the deadline approaches. By taking advantage of our REAL ID resources and widespread locations, you can ensure peace of mind for upcoming summer travel.”
