Keith Reed, RN, MPH, CPH, current Oklahoma Commissioner of Health, has worked for the state of Oklahoma for 28 years, with the past 23 in various local and state leadership roles within the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Commissioner Reed is an effective leader and mentor who understands how public health fits into the larger, more complex health care system. His focus is on building public health as a foundational partner for both those in the health care space and the community, while also serving as a resource to help drive Oklahoma to economic prosperity through health improvement.
Reed obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma’s Northeastern State University and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Oklahoma. He is a registered nurse and is certified in Public Health. In addition to his public health career, Reed is a proud member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, serving multiple tours in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. Reed carries the title Colonel and spent 18 years specializing in aeromedical evacuation, with five years of that as Commander of the 137th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. From there, he spent five years as commander of the 137th Special Operations Medical Group and is currently assigned to Oklahoma’s Joint Force Headquarters.
