OSIIS - Oklahoma State Immunization Information System

OSIIS collects and maintains accurate, complete, and current immunization records for Oklahomans of all ages (including patient demographics). However, not all clinics participate in OSIIS, therefore OSIIS does not contain the immunization records of all Oklahomans. Below are some helpful interactive links to more complete Oklahoma immunization data.

If the above links do not meet your needs, OSIIS data can be requested by completing the following Data Request Survey.

Individual shot records cannot be obtained using the Data Request Survey. For shot records, please go to the OSIIS Public Portal.

Please fill out the survey completely and in detail as incomplete survey’s will not be considered. Submission of a data request does not guarantee approval and all data request results and usage must follow HIPAA guidelines

Health Level Seven (HL7)

Health Level Seven, known as HL7, is a set of international standards for communicating medical data between software applications that healthcare providers use. Using HL7 gives providers the ability to transfer and share data between providers. The ability to transmit/exchange HL7 data from an Electronic Healthcare (EHR) system that another healthcare provider uses is a huge time saver and is useful for providing better care to one’s patients.

HL7 also provides the user the ability to obtain a full shot record for a patient.

  • Provides information exchange between computer applications developed by different vendors. OSIIS Providers can link clinical data easily between different computer/vendor systems allowing for increased interoperability of disparate EHR systems.

  • Reduces the labor and time involved in negotiating application-to-application (or point-to-point) interfaces. HL7 provides a common, standardized “language” that different EHR systems can use to reduce development time of point-to-point interfaces.

  • Reduces short-term costs and project delivery time for development and implementation.

  • Reduces long term costs in support and maintenance as well as communication and system integration.

  • HL7 provides accurate, up-to-date, and complete information about patients at the point of care.  OSIIS Providers can query immunization history to obtain a more complete immunization record at the point of care helping to more effectively administer vaccines and provide safer care.

  • Helps providers more effectively diagnose patients, reduce medical errors, and provide safer care.

  • Enables safer, more reliable prescribing.

  • Enhances privacy and security of patient data. Electronic data submission through HL7 is encrypted allowing for safer storage/transmission of patient data and access to the data can be restricted to only those who truly need it.

  • Reduces costs through decreased paperwork, improved safety, reduced duplication of testing, and improved health. HL7 data is directly entered into the providers EHR system (if they have one) and then automatically transmitted to OSIIS, saving the provider time having to document on paper and then entering the data manually into OSIIS (double-entry).
