Community Living, Aging and Protective Services
What We Do
Community Living, Aging and Protective Services (CAP) works with community partners to strengthen support systems for vulnerable adults across Oklahoma. Through collaborative efforts, CAP promotes independence, enhances quality of life and ensures that services are tailored to everyone’s needs — delivering person-centered care at every stage of life.
CAP serves Oklahomans by:
- Investigating allegations of elder abuse, neglect and exploitation.
- Increasing options for older adults to live safely and independently at home.
- Providing support for family caregivers.
- Increasing job opportunities for aging adults.
- Providing resources for families living with HIV/AIDS.
ADvantage Waiver
The ADvantage Waiver Program, a Medicaid-funded initiative in Oklahoma, plays a vital role in helping elderly and disabled adults receive long-term care services that allow them to remain at home rather than move into an institutional or nursing care facility. By offering support such as personal care, home-delivered meals, and case management, the program promotes independence and enhances the quality of life for thousands of Oklahomans.
Adult Protective Services
Adult Protective Services (APS) safeguards the well-being of vulnerable adults in Oklahoma by investigating reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Through compassionate intervention and strong community partnerships, APS works to ensure safety, preserve dignity, and connect adults with the support and care they need. The program’s mission is not only to respond to crises but also to promote long-term stability, empowering older adults and adults with disabilities to live safely, with respect and independence, in the setting that best meets their needs.
Aging Our Way Oklahoma
"Aging Our Way Oklahoma" is a bold and comprehensive 10-year initiative designed to elevate the experience of aging across the state. Led by CAP, this effort brings together state agencies, tribal nations and private sector partners to create lasting, community-driven change. At the heart of the plan are trained community ambassadors who serve as trusted messengers—sharing progress, amplifying opportunities, and fostering local engagement.
The initiative centers on 10 strategic focus areas, each with targeted goals to address the diverse needs of older adults in Oklahoma’s rural, suburban, and urban communities. From enhancing access to wellness programs and transportation services to strengthening social connections and caregiver support, "Aging Our Way Oklahoma" is committed to building a more inclusive, responsive, and age-friendly future for all.
