Oklahoma State Capitol Tours

Guided tours led by trained volunteer docents are available at no cost. Guided tours last 45 minutes.

• Small groups (10 or fewer people)
  Weekdays, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
  Walk-up guided tours are available to groups of 10 or less, Monday through Friday at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Reservations are not required. Holidays, inclement weather, and other factors may impact the availability of tours. Tours meet by The Guardian sculpture on the ground floor near the south visitor entrance.

  Guided tours may be requested for groups of 11 or more people. Requests are considered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Tours may be requested for Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Holidays, inclement weather, and other factors may impact tour availability. Adult chaperones must be present with groups that include children. Requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.

The Oklahoma State Capitol is open for self-guided tours weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors should enter the building using the south visitor entrance. Download a map of the Capitol complex. No advance notice is needed for self-guided tours.

Schools are encouraged to bring students on field trips to the Oklahoma State Capitol. The Oklahoma Arts Council offers a field trip grant program that reimburses schools statewide for eligible expenses to bring students to the Capitol. Schools can arrange guided tours or take self-guided tours. Guided field trip tours last 45 minutes and cover a variety of topics in art, history, and government. Adult chaperones must accompany all groups of students during guided and self-guided tours. One adult chaperone over the age of 18 is required for every 15 students.

• Guided tours – Guided tours are available for students in 3rd grade and up, Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (the last tour begins at 2:00 p.m.). Guided tours are available on first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed. Requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance. Request a guided tour.

• Self-guided tours – Schools are welcome to enjoy self-guided tours weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and weekends, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No advance notice is necessary. Learn more about the Capitol art.

Field Trip Grants for Schools

The Oklahoma Arts Council offers grant funding that reimburses schools for eligible expenses to bring students on field trips to the Oklahoma State Capitol. Bus expenses, substitute teacher expenses, and more may be paid for through our Capitol Field Trip Grant program. Schools that apply for a field trip grant must schedule a guided tour.

Apply for a Capitol Art Field Trip Grant

The Oklahoma State Capitol is located at 2300 N. Lincoln Blvd. in Oklahoma City (view map). The Capitol is open to the public weekdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Parking and Entering the Capitol

Parking is available in the lot south of the Capitol. Groups may be dropped off by an entrance before parking. Download a map of the Capitol complex.

Visitors should enter the building using the south visitor entrance.

Upon entry, all visitors must proceed through a security checkpoint. Metal items such as phones and keys must be removed and scanned. See a list of prohibited items.

All spaces included on tours are ADA compliant. The Oklahoma State Capitol has a wheelchair that can be used on a first come, first served basis. The Oklahoma Arts Council has voice amplifiers that tour guides can use during your tour—advanced notice is required. Stools are available on a first-come first-served basis for visitors who may have trouble standing for long periods of time. What will I see on my guided tour?

Guided tours last 45 minutes as participants are led through six floors of the historic Oklahoma State Capitol building, a neo-classical structure that completed a full restoration in 2022. Trained docents will guide participants on the tour, sharing stories and highlighting details about the Capitol artwork, the history of Oklahoma, the activities of state government, and more. Completed in 1917, the Oklahoma State Capitol is the only capitol in the nation to house all three branches of government. The historic building comprises over 11 acres of floor space and is home to hundreds of artworks from several state-owned collections managed by the Oklahoma Arts Council.

What if bad weather is predicted?
Your safety is our priority. If inclement weather posing travel risks is predicted for the area near the Capitol, tours may be canceled.
