Commissioner Kim David
Kim David is a native Oklahoman, trendsetter, small business owner, and experienced leader. She was sworn in to her first term as a Corporation Commissioner on January 9, 2023.
From 2010 to 2022, she served in the Oklahoma State Senate where she was the first woman since statehood to be named majority leader, the first woman to chair the Senate Appropriations Committee, and the first Republican woman to serve as majority whip. During her twelve years as a Senator, she helped lead one of the most conservative legislative agendas in the history of Oklahoma and sponsored numerous pieces of legislation that positively impacted the State of Oklahoma.
She is a supporter of an “all of the above” energy policy and sponsored legislation to create a hydrogen fuel production standard and establishing provisions for reporting hydrogen fuel production.
As a small business owner managing multiple properties, David is well-versed on issues impacting small businesses. She previously worked in petroleum marketing both nationally and internationally before turning her attention to raising a family.
She currently serves as Chairman of the Corporation Commission and as Oklahoma’s voting member on the Southwest Power Pool’s (SPP) Regional State Committee. For the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), she serves on the Committee on Electricity, the Subcommittee on Pipeline Safety, and was appointed to the Task Force on Natural Gas Resource Planning. Additionally, she serves on the Advisory Board for the Financial Research Institute (FRI) and a member of the Mid-America Regulatory Conference (MARC).
Her husband, Dan, is a retired federal law enforcement officer. Her daughter is an officer in the Oklahoma Air National guard. Her son served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She is also the proud grandmother of three grandsons.
She is a proud Cowboy and holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geology from Oklahoma State University.
