NHSC Loan Repayment Program Overview |
Eligible health professionals may earn up to $75,000 for full-time and $37,500 for part-time in exchange for a two-year commitment at an NHSC-approved site. Applicants fluent in a second language could qualify for an additional $5,000. |

Eligible health care providers providing services SUD treatment services in rural communities may earn up to $100,000 for full-time and $50,000 for part-time in exchange for at least a three-year commitment at a rural NHSC-approved SUD treatment facility. |
NHSC Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Workforce Loan Repayment Program Overview |
Eligible health care providers practicing with evidenced-based treatment models to treat substance use disorders may earn up to $75,000 for full-time and $37,500 for part-time in exchange for at least a three-year commitment at a NHSC-approved SUD treatment facility. |
NHSC Students to Service Loan Repayment Program | Eligible students in the last year of medical, nursing, or dental school may earn up to $120,000 of loan repayment in exchange for a three-year commitment at a NHSC-approved facility. |
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment and Recovery Loan Repayment Program (STAR LRP) | Eligible health care providers working full-time at STAR LRP-approved facilities may earn up to $250,000 in exchange for a six-year commitment at their facility. |
Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program Overview |
Eligible health care providers may earn up to $100,000 in exchange for a full-time three year commitment at a Pediatric Specialty LRP-approved treatment facility. |
Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program | Nurse practitioners, registered nurses and nurse faculty who are working in Critical Shortage Facilities (CSF) and/or an eligible nursing school may earn up to 85% of unpaid nursing education debt in exchange for at least a two-year service obligation. A CSF is a public or private health care facility located in, designated as, or serving a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA). Review the Application and Program Guidance for a full list of eligible facilities. |

NHSC Auto-Approved Site | Facility types with federal regulative authority, like American Indian Health Services (HIS) or Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), do not require the full application for the NHSC and can join at any time throughout the year. Other site types with state regulatory bodies, like outpatient behavioral health facilities or state prisons are eligible but must complete the application during the application cycle. |
