Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs)

Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations are used to identify areas and population groups within the United States that are experiencing a shortage of health professionals.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC)

The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) supports primary care medical, dental, and behavioral health providers through scholarships and loan repayment programs. For over 50 years, the program has increased access to quality health care in communities with significant health professional shortages.

Medically Underserved Areas (MUAs)

MUAs and MUPs identify geographic areas and populations with a lack of access to primary care services. These designations help establish health maintenance organizations or community health centers.

MUPs have a shortage of primary care health services for a specific population subset within a geographic area. These groups may face economic, cultural, or language barriers to health care.

Health Care Resources & Facilities

Map (PDF) Description
Rural Health Clinics in Oklahoma Map including all Rural Health Clinics in Oklahoma. Rural Health Clinics meet federal criteria for serving rural populations.
Critical Access Hospitals Map including all critical access hospitals in Oklahoma. Critical Access Hospital is a designation given to eligible rural hospitals by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Tribal Jurisdictions and Health Facilities Map including all tribal jurisdictions, and tribal health facilities in Oklahoma.
