63 O.S. § 106.3 establishes the Oklahoma Food Service Advisory Council (FSAC). This council is made up of fourteen Commissioner of Health-appointed members consisting of:
A representative of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association
A representative of the Oklahoma Hotel and Motel Association
A representative of the Oklahoma Grocers Association
A food service education representative
A food processing education representative
An independent food service operator
A food processor
A representative of the School Nutrition Association of Oklahoma
A citizen representing the public who is not a food service establishment operator or employee and who is not a member of a food service governing board
The Director of Oklahoma City-County Health Department or designee
The Director of Tulsa City-County Health Department or designee
Two county health department directors or designees
The Director of the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry or designee
Members are appointed for three-year terms. The jurisdiction of the council includes:
Advisement regarding food service establishments
Recommendations to improve sanitation and consumer protection.
Reviewing and approving in an advisory capacity only rules and standards for service establishments operating in this state
Evaluating, reviewing, and making recommendations regarding Department inspection activities
Recommending and approving quality indicators and data submission requirements for food service establishments used by the Department to monitor compliance with licensure requirements and publish an annual report of food service establishment performance.
The FSAC meets on a quarterly basis. Members of FSAC serve without compensation but are eligible for reimbursement of travel expenses by the Department pursuant to the State Travel Reimbursement Act.
