Sanitarian and Environmental Registration Advisory Council

59 O.S. § 1150.5 establishes the Sanitarian and Environmental Specialist Registration Advisory Council. This council is made up of nine members who have a minimum of five years’ experience working as a registered sanitarian or environmental specialist consisting of:

  • The Commissioner of Health or designee
  • The Executive Director of the Department of Environmental Quality or designee
  • The Director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services or designee (exempt from experience requirement)
  • An appointee by the Director of the Oklahoma City-County Health Department
  • An appointee by the Director of the Tulsa City-County Health Department
  • Two members employed by state government
  • A member appointed by the Executive Director of the Department of Environmental Quality
  • A member appointed by the Indian Health Service of the Public Health Service or tribal government with an office in the State of Oklahoma 

Jurisdiction of the council includes:

  • Assisting and advising on matters related to the formulation of rules
  • Assisting the board in establishing qualification requirements for each registration type, including experience and examination requirements 
  • Assisting in the development of application forms
  • Investigating alleged violations of rule and law for these applicants or registrants

A majority of members constitute a quorum. Members serve without compensation.
