Arthritis Foundation

For over seven decades, the Arthritis Foundation has led the fight to conquer arthritis for nearly 60 million adults and hundreds of thousands of children in the United States living with the disease.

CDC Arthritis

CDC is the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health. For more than 70 years, we’ve put science into action to help children stay healthy so they can grow and learn; to help families, businesses, and communities fight disease and stay strong; and to protect the public’s health.

Osteoarthritis Action Alliance (OAAA)

The Osteoarthritis (OA) Action Alliance is a national coalition of concerned organizations mobilized by the Arthritis Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  This coalition is committed to elevating OA as a national health priority and promoting effective policy solutions that aim to address the individual and national toll of OA. In addition, the OA Action Alliance, with the public health community, is working to ensure people with OA have the access, skills and capacity to benefit from effective and proven interventions.

OSDH DPP

The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) is a lifestyle change program created by the CDC.  This year long program is designed to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.  People living with prediabetes or at risk for type 2 diabetes can participate.  The program encourages healthy eating and regular physical activity. These lifestyle changes can help prevent type 2 diabetes and improve overall health.

OSDH Falls Prevention

Oklahoma is home to more than 650,000 adults aged 65 years and older. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries among persons 65 years and older in Oklahoma. Every year, falls result in the hospitalization of approximately 8,000 older adults and the death of more than 650 older adults. Falls not only threaten the safety and independence of older adults, but also generate enormous economic and personal costs. The Injury Prevention Service coordinates outreach efforts to provide fall-related educational and programmatic information to Oklahomans 65 years and older and other partners, in addition to championing the Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance and A Matter of Balance programs.

OSDH Healthy Brain Initiative

The Oklahoma Healthy Brain Program promotes brain health, addresses cognitive impairment, and addresses the needs of caregivers. We are focused on the improvement of early detection and diagnosis, increase awareness and education, risk reduction and prevention of comorbidities, and to prevent hospitalizations.
