The Oklahoma State Department of Health and Sexual Health and Harm Reduction (SHHR) work closely with health care providers and facilities in the state to ensure the rapid and effective identification and treatment of sexually transmitted infection. State law mandates reporting procedures for some infections and SHHR tries to make that process as simple as possible for health care providers. In addition, we offer a range of educational and prevention materials for providers as well as links to data and other sources of information.

The state of Oklahoma requires the collection of data on HIV, STI and Hepatitis C (HCV) cases. Information is collected from many sources, such as health care providers, laboratories, and vital records offices (birth and death certificates).  

Cases of diseases may be reported through official forms or by using the electronic reporting system. HIV, STI, and Hepatitis C (HCV) surveillance is the ongoing collection, analysis, interpretation, and communicating of data regarding new and existing cases of these diseases.

HIV, STI, and HCV surveillance data is used by local, county, state, and federal agencies to monitor trends in STI transmission; to assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and interventions; and to help officials and health care providers better understand the impact of STI in the state, including populations who are most affected and those who are in need of prevention and care services. 

We provide tables, fact sheets, and presentations on the trends of HIV, STI, and HCV surveillance data in Oklahoma. These documents are updated annually and designed to assist experts and researchers in targeting and identifying a population currently being diagnosed with a particular disease to assist you in better targeting your services for prevention or treatment.
